All the Way

1 Samuel 14:7 - His armor bearer said, “Go ahead. Do what you think best. I’m with you all the way.”

We all are followers in some nature. We all look to someone for leadership in our lives. However, this concept of faithfulness that’s portrayed in 1 Samuel isn’t very prevalent in our culture. If the common American were to read this verse, it would be interpreted more like “Go ahead. I don’t care. I’ll be with you…until it costs me something.” Whether you’re a volunteer, employee, pastor, or spouse, we all serve underneath some type of leadership and how you respond to that leadership can determine how quickly or effectively an organization can grow.

My challenge to you is to truly put this verse to application; in fact, it’s a challenge to me – to have the heart that says “I am with my leadership all the way.” It can be difficult to see what that level of faithfulness looks like, therefore, I have outlined three keys points that I firmly believe are essential to developing faithfulness to your leadership.

#1 – Humility | “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God as dealt to each one a measure of faith.” Romans 12:3

Humility, in its truest form, in a byproduct of faith. True humility says “God I have faith that You are willing and ready to do what Your Word says, it’s nothing of myself.” When you apply humility, in faith, that God has placed you under your current leadership for a reason, you can trust the Lord. Just because something may not be your idea or your preference, doesn’t make it okay to not put 110% into making it a success. Remember, when you take a place of humility, every move is a promotion.

#2 – Security | “'For in Him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are His offspring.'” Acts 17:28

You’ll struggle with going “all the way” for your leadership if you aren’t secure in Christ. If you aren’t aware of your identity in Him, you will consistently feel as though you’re not good enough. It is very difficult to have the ‘do what you think is best’ mindset when you aren’t secure in Christ because you will continually want to prove that you know what’s best.

#3 – Tenacity | “Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.” Isaiah 50:7

To go “all the way” for your leadership, you’ll need to be tenacious. If they give you a task, complete it. If it looks improbable, take it as an encouragement that they believe you can do it; that they trust you to do something that requires faith.  Set your face like flint and don’t be turned away.

Let the Games Begin!

Twenty years ago, Pastors Jeff and Beth Jones were given a vision to plant a church that would impact Southwest Michigan and beyond. Today, that vision has become a reality through the ministries of Valley Family Church and can be summarized by our mission: "We exist so people get it.

As a kid's ministry team, everything that we do reflects that mission. We want to see people get saved, get helped, get free, get faith and so much more! From the behind-the-scenes stuff to our weekend services, our goal is to help dads, moms and kids "get it!" Our hope is that through this blog, you are encouraged, motivated, equipped and challenged to help the people in your sphere of influence "get it too!"

Let the games begin!
